It all started when a friend from work, Sue Blair, wanted to play matchmaker and set Anne up with the single Fed Ex driver, Steve, early in September 1999. Details are fuzzy about who called who first and how the date was actually set up.

Anne and Steve went on their first date September 29, 1999. Steve took Anne to Miss Mamie's for a nice dinner and to see a movie. Several phone calls happened between the two. It is a mystery to this day as to how or why it ended.

Fast forward to April 22, 2022. Molly, Anne's sister, and Anne were visiting friends to celebrate one of their friend's retirements. After a lot of laughter and stories, one of the friends thought it would be a good idea for Anne to try dating online. Victoria, Anne's daughter, had moved to Chicago and Anne had been working from home during Covid 19, so she was alone a lot.

Anne reluctantly joined an online dating app with the help of her friends, and after many toads, found her prince. Anne found the kindhearted, family oriented, handsome, Catholic, card playing, sports loving man online and sent him a message. Steve had gotten online to cancel his dating app subscription and luckily, saw the message Anne had sent, and sent her a message back.

They had a lot in common and the conversation was very easy between them. After talking online for a while they finally exchanged phone numbers and Steve eventually asked Anne out. Although they didn't realize it was their second first date, and not their first first date, they met for lunch at Front Street Brewery on May 14, 2022.

After a few dates, Anne started recognizing similarities in a man she had gone on a date with long ago. After multiple questions, they wondered if they had gone on a date way back when. Anne had kept planners from when her daughter was born. After much digging, she found the planner with the first first date logged on September 29, 1999, and the phone calls logged after that date.

After many dates, Chiefs games, euchre parties, getting together with friends and family, a lot of laughter and a lot of love, Steve asked Anne to marry him while on a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks on June 25, 2023. The rest is history!
